Effect of Training Program ¡°Becoming a Happy Mother¡± on Parental Stress and Parental Efficacy of Parents of Children with Intellectual Disabilities

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of a training program ¡°becoming a happy mother¡± on mothers of children with intellectual disabilities. The subjects in this study were the mothers who hoped to participated in a training program ¡°becoming a happy mother.¡± Out of them, 12 parents were selected as an experimental group, and the other 12 mothers were selected as a control group. They took a test immediately before and after the program was conducted in order to test the effect of the program. The findings of the study were as follows: First, the experimental group showed a more significant decrease in parental stress than the control group. Second, the experimental group provided in this study showed a more significant improvement in parental efficacy than the control group. Given the findings of the study, the training program ¡°becoming a happy mother¡± could be said to be effective at relieving the parental stress of mothers of children with intellectual disabilities, improving their parental efficacy and alleviating their parental anxiety.
